10 Sunday Rituals For A Sustainable Week

Sunday is an important day to get right. You need to get the right balance of rest and preparation so you can feel fresh and ready for the beginning of the week. When your mind is in the right place and you’re ready to tackle the world head on, you have the chance to be the best version of yourself and change the world for the better.

1. Don’t Wake Up Too Late

It’s important not to mess with your sleep schedule and having an excessive lie-in can actually make you feel more tired when you need to get up early the next day. Unless you’ve spent the night out in the town, try to get up a maximum of an hour later than you normally would.

2. Take An Hour To Breathe

Make a cup of tea or warm water and spend an hour doing something simple before a hearty breakfast. Drinking warm water first thing has been shown to be good for your wellbeing. Tend to your plants and contemplate life; it’s a refreshing way to do practically nothing. Give your brain a break and let it wonder.

3. Pamper Yourself

A clay face mask should be your go to. Imagine the clay drawing out and washing away all the stress, impurities and any bad vibes from the previous week. Load up on moisturiser and oils afterward to hydrate and give yourself the G L O W.

4. Plan Your Meals For The Week

It’s easy to get bored of a dish quickly, especially if you eat it too often or too many times in a row. Pinterest is a fabulous way to get new dish inspiration (check out the urban sustained pinterest food board for amazing ideas!), and you’ll feel super organised knowing your food is planned out for the week.

5. Spend Time With Your Loved Ones

Make time for your close family and friends on Sundays, and make it the unspoken rule in your house – Sunday is family day. Even if you’re not doing anything particularly interesting, whatmatters is that you’re together. Connecting and catching up is a good way to make sure your house is in order, giving you peace of mind.

6. Pick Your Outfits For The Week

If you’re a minimalist dresser or have a capsule wardrobe, you won’t have too much of an issue with this. Less is more when it comes to clothing and to give yourself a good start make sure your central pieces are clean and ready to wear come Monday morning. If your wardrobe is full to bursting then pick your outfits and line them up in an easy to reach place (also consider downsizing you closet).

7. Watch Something

Catch up on a series and entertain yourself! Your mind might start drifting to work related topics ahead of time which is not what you need. Comedy is a great genre to watch, there’s nothing like laughter to make you feel light.

8. Launder Your Sheets

There’s something about freshly laundered white cotton sheets on a Sunday night. It gives that luxury hotel feel and that crisp feeling will encourage a great night of sleep. Organic Egyptian cotton is a popular choice; it keeps you warm and cool, and its high thread count makes it nice and soft.

9. Use Esential Oils For A Calming Session

Rub a blend of essential oils to relax your mind for bed. Lavender, Ylang Ylang and Chamomile are a beautiful combination to mix with carrier oil, as they help to reduce any anxiety and help clear your mind. (check out this post on how to make your own luxury oils here!)

10. Go to Sleep at a Reasonable Time In a Cool Environment

After your relaxing day, you need to make sure you take your relaxed self to bed on time! Lock in that calm and lovely day with an uninterrupted 8 hour sleep. Your body temperature actually drops slightly when you sleep, so open one of your windows at night to give your body the perfect environment it needs for a great night’s sleep.
Don’t worry, your cotton sheets will keep you warm.
